“freedom” is the restoration of the individual to his home and to his inheritance. The Sumerian term for “freedom”, amargi, literally means: return to the bosom of the mother: ama (= mother) ar-gi4 (= return). Likewise, freedom is defined in Leviticus 25 as the return of each man to his property and to his family (v. 10).
