It is natural, of course, that as the anticipated climax of history approaches, so will the detail of description. But there is no denying two simple observations: that as time progresses, the book of Daniel becomes more detailed and (apparently) more accurate; and yet that at a precise point in its charting of the course of history the book departs from what we know to have happened.
