The people at Capernaum now ask, kyrie pantote dos hymin ton arton touton (6:34; see 4:15). They misunderstand the nature of the bread and ask Jesus to give them this bread pantote. They suggest that the bread of heaven be given again and again. Jesus responds in the first person singular, correcting the misunderstanding and carrying his self-revelation further.
