If the goal of the Torah is the Law, why does Moses strategically highlight Israel’s unbelief and death after the giving of the Law? The apostle Paul writes, “For the law brings wrath, but where there is no law there is no transgression” (Rom. 4:15). In 2 Corinthians 3:6–7, he calls the Sinai covenant a “ministry of death.” In Romans 10:3–8, Paul speaks of a righteousness based on the Law, which is opposed to a righteousness based on faith.
