Dangers lurk in pastoral ministry. We’ve heard the warnings, rightly, against greed, lust, power, and pride. Perhaps another poses greater danger due to its innocuous appearance: presumption. Since we study the Word, preach sermons, lead in worship, offer public prayers, pray with the sick and dying, do biblical counseling, talk about spiritual matters, and explain the gospel to others, we can think our spiritual lives to be well.
