Stott’s sermons never sacrificed clarity for levity. In addition to the quotations and stories, which make up the bulk of this anthology, there are also a handful of outlines for talks, as well as a number of prayers that he wrote for specific occasions. Stott’s notes numbered in the thousands, and this anthology reproduces only around 20 percent of them. In selecting the entries, I have attempted to capture the breadth and depth of the full archive.
