Our Lord spoke about men as sheep; a sheep has no set conscious purpose to go wrong, it simply wanders; and our Lord used the illustration for men; the majority of men wander like sheep without any conscious bad intent at all. That is the first outwork or outguard of Satan, he gets us all here like silly stupid sheep; he has never altered his way of working, and although it is written clearly in God’s Book, we never seem to be forewarned that the soul is stained through natural interest.
