In the last days of Judah, God sent Jeremiah to announce the coming judgment, call people to repentance, and comfort the believers who lived in a nation that had forsaken the Lord. His testimony contains many glorious prophecies of the coming Messiah. The book of Lamentations encourages believers to cling to the Lord even during disasters.

INTRODUCTION TO JEREMIAH Jeremiah is meant to be read with the ear. Few people in Jeremiah’s time, even the great and powerful, could read. So Jeremiah spoke the Lord’s Word to his audience. He did not write down any of his prophecy until he had been at work over 20 years. This helps to explain some of his style and manner of writing. Jeremiah is hard reading because his was a hard message. This message was delivered over a period of 41 years. It was not given all at once, so more than one generation
