When I was a student in seminary, I read somewhere that the length of a pastor’s ministry in a particular church was often directly proportionate to the size of his theological library. The reasoning conveyed by this is that good pastors and preachers are often readers of good books. Conversely, poor pastors and preachers are all too often not serious readers.
