So what’s strange about Samuel? Well, Samuel is not the addressee; the book of Samuel is not a letter, obviously. He’s also really not the main character; he’s kind of the main character in the beginning, but then he disappears pretty much after David gets anointed in 2 Sam 16. Let’s face it, David is the main character of 1 and 2 Samuel. Then the last thing is, Samuel is not the author of 1 and 2 Samuel. How do we know? Well, he dies in 1 Sam 25:1.
