Theology is the study of God, and of humanity, and how we relate to each other. We’re going to approach it from, if you like, an inductive perspective—looking at the text and drawing out what the author of Genesis is saying. We’re not bringing our own categories to the text, which would be more of the approach of systematic theology, but we’re going to be doing a biblical theology. The first things that we encounter are God Himself and His creation, in chapters 1 and 2. We see God as a creator, a
