Books 4 and 5 are given to answer the question raised in Psa 89:49, “Where, O Lord, is your former great love, which in your faithfulness you swore to David?” In other words, the book of Psalms, in the unfolding five books, has been composed in such a way to address significant theological questions in the postexilic community—in particular, how do we live with the tension of the promise in God’s word that David would never fail to have a son sitting on the throne and the reality of our existence
