I don’t see miracles happening today, so they probably never did happen. What would be the meaning of this for the study of life itself? If, in fact, we have a closed universe and everything has to be explainable within it, there’s really no hope beyond where we are now and what we are. There’s no place to go but to our own resources. And again, that would be psychologically very troubling.
