The first empowerment is empowerment to produce children. When God blesses people, He empowers them to produce children. The very first occurrence, God blessed the first pair and He said to them, “Produce children.” He was empowering them to reproduce. One example: Genesis 17:16. There God says, “I will bless her.” I wonder what that means—“I will bless her”? Well, if we keep reading, we find out: “And will surely give you a son by her.” You see, “I will empower her to produce a son.” The text says,
