of Adam and he certainly was in his handling of Nineveh. Jonah had witnessed that fact even though it caused him to sulk (see Jonah 4:1–4). God’s delay in executing punishment is not a sign of weakness. Mercy can be misinterpreted as a failing. But to follow that line of reasoning is an act of folly because a stay of execution does not mean that the threat has been lifted. Each generation also receives due warning through the Bible about God and his judgements. May we not be taken unawares, especially
