ERITH The Book of Genesis forms an introduction to the historical books of the Bible, Genesis–2 Kings; the Books of Chronicles, Ezra and Nehemiah being a separate and, in part, parallel history. The English title Genesis comes from the Vulgate through the LXX and refers to the creation of the world. The Hebrew title is simply the opening words of the Book, ‘In the beginning.’ Genesis is the Book of beginnings; the compiler is concerned to explain the origin of mankind in general
