He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John.” Ancient writers often included titles on the outside of a scroll. By the mid-second century, some scribes began transcribing scrolls into codices or into the kinds of books that we have today, so that what was originally on the outside of the scroll becomes transcribed to the inside of a document.
