His Work as the Lamb of God Jesus is described both as God’s “Lamb” (ἀμνός, amnos) who “takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29; see 1:36), whose “precious blood as a lamb without blemish and defect” has redeemed Christians (1 Pet. 1:19), and the “Lamb” (ἀρνίον, arnion) who “with his blood purchased men to God” (Rev. 5:8–9) and in whose blood men “have washed their robes and made them white” (Rev. 7:14).
