The Formation and Close of the Church’s Canon From the beginning of the process of the inscripturation of the Word of God to the present time, the biblical faith has always been a “book religion.” That is to say, during this period the people of God have always had a divinely inspired, authoritative canon (“rule” or “standard”) comprised of documents which served them as their guide in matters of faith and life. But they did not have to roam the world to find these divinely inspired documents. In
