A Psalm of David.
1 To You I will cry, O Lord my Rock: aDo not be silent to me,
bLest, if You are silent to me,
I become like those who go down to the pit.
2 Hear the voice of my supplications
When I cry to You,
cWhen I lift up my hands dtoward Your holy sanctuary.
3 Do not 1take me away with the wicked
And with the workers of iniquity,
eWho speak peace to their neighbors,
But evil is in their hearts.
4 fGive them according to their deeds,
And according to the wickedness of their endeavors;
Give them according to the work of their hands;
Render to them what they deserve.
5 Because gthey do not regard the works of the Lord,
Nor the operation of His hands,
He shall destroy them
And not build them up.
Because He has heard the voice of my supplications!
7 The Lord is hmy strength and my shield;
My heart itrusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.
8 The Lord is 2their strength,
And He is the jsaving refuge of His 3anointed.
And bless kYour inheritance;
Shepherd them also,
lAnd bear them up forever.
About The New King James VersionThe New King James Version is a total update of the 1611 King James Version, also known as the "Authorized Version." Every attempt has been made to maintain the beauty of the original version while updating the English grammar to contemporary style and usage. The result is much better "readability." It is noteworthy that the NKJV is one of the few modern translations still based on the "Western" or "Byzantine" manuscript tradition. This makes the New King James Version an invaluable aid to comparative English Bible study. |
