Warning to Watch for His Coming
34 “But htake heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with 8carousing, drunkenness, and icares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For jit will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 kWatch therefore, and lpray always that you may 9be counted mworthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and nto stand before the Son of Man.”
37 oAnd in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but pat night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet. 38 Then early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple to hear Him.
Matt. 26:1–5, 14–16; Mark 14:1, 2, 10, 11
22 Now athe Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover. 2 And bthe chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people.
3 cThen Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the dtwelve. 4 So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them. 5 And they were glad, and eagreed to give him money. 6 So he promised and sought opportunity to fbetray Him to them in the absence of the multitude.
7 gThen came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be 1killed. 8 And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”
9 So they said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare?”
10 And He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters. 11 Then you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’ 12 Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready.”
13 So they went and hfound it just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.

About The New King James VersionThe New King James Version is a total update of the 1611 King James Version, also known as the "Authorized Version." Every attempt has been made to maintain the beauty of the original version while updating the English grammar to contemporary style and usage. The result is much better "readability." It is noteworthy that the NKJV is one of the few modern translations still based on the "Western" or "Byzantine" manuscript tradition. This makes the New King James Version an invaluable aid to comparative English Bible study. |
