Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? lHe who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that mI am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you nI do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, oor else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
p“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 qAnd whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be rglorified in the Son. 14 If you 3ask anything in My name, I will do it.
s“If you love Me, 4keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and tHe will give you another 5Helper, that He may abide with you forever—17 uthe Spirit of truth, vwhom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you wand will be in you. 18 xI will not leave you orphans; yI will come to you.
“A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but zyou will see Me. aBecause I live, you will live also. 20 At that day you will know that bI am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 cHe who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and 6manifest Myself to him.”
About The New King James VersionThe New King James Version is a total update of the 1611 King James Version, also known as the "Authorized Version." Every attempt has been made to maintain the beauty of the original version while updating the English grammar to contemporary style and usage. The result is much better "readability." It is noteworthy that the NKJV is one of the few modern translations still based on the "Western" or "Byzantine" manuscript tradition. This makes the New King James Version an invaluable aid to comparative English Bible study. |
