It is also fascinating that in Sirach (Sir 24:17–21) Wisdom is portrayed as a vine, but then in v. 23 Wisdom is also identified with Torah. So the metaphor is very different. In the Synoptic Gospels, Jesus uses the vine and vineyard in his parables, but none of them have the focus of Jesus as the Vine (cf. Matt 20:1–16; 21:33–46; Luke 13:6–9).
