Now we consider one more attribute of God, his simplicity.1 What does it mean? When applied to God, the words simple and simplicity have a special, technical meaning. Being simple is the opposite of being composed of parts. God cannot be decomposed into parts. Let us illustrate the contrast between being simple and having parts. Consider an apple. A single apple is an individual fruit, which we recognize as having its own integrity.
