FINISHING THE RACE (2 TIM. 4:6–18) About 30 years after his supernatural encounter with Jesus Christ on the Damascus Road, Paul was finishing the course that the Lord had set before him. Knowing full well that his life would be over soon, Paul gave some final instructions to Timothy and the church. Paul had offered up his life to God and was “being poured out as a drink offering” (4:6; see Num. 15:1–10). But Paul did not fear death. He said confidently, “there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness” (4:8).
