Daniel became God’s ambassador to rich and powerful world leaders. For most of his life, this humble prophet carried out a quiet but effective ministry behind the scenes, yet much of it took place on the international stage. Not only was Daniel a powerful example (in his steadfast devotion to God and his refusal to capitulate to pagan beliefs or practices—1:8–21; 6:1–28), and a man of prayer (2:16–23; 6:10–13; 9:3–19), but he also was a bold and powerful truth-teller (2:24–49; 4:19–26; 5:13–31).
