be God and God’s. Thus all must be misled who insist on their own judgment. All who come to their self-conceit and give it up celebrate the true sabbath. Where this self-conceit arrives at the point that it uses the word of God to justify its presumption and attacks Scripture with its light, there is no more counsel nor help; for then this self-conceit thinks it has God’s word on its side and its duty is to defend it. This is the last fall and Lucifer’s misfortune, concerning which Solomon says:
