Correlation is one of the most illuminating steps of Bible study. When you use correlation, you compare passages in one part of the Bible to similar passages in another part. This process ends up throwing light on both sets of passages, so you walk away with a better understanding of the meaning of the texts. When you read John 1:1—“In the beginning was the Word”—you may have noticed that it begins like Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” As you read a little further
