Anderson to renege on his appointment with Campbell and removed their suspension of Campbell’s ministerial standing. Still, it voted to censure Campbell with a rebuke and an admonition. Though disappointed and angry, Campbell submitted to the synod and spent two months ministering in Philadelphia under the synod’s supervision. When he returned home in August, however, he discovered that the Chartiers Presbytery still refused to give him any preaching assignments. In September, Campbell presented
