Human nature is the character of our created being determining our identity and providing inner motivation to our words and actions. Usually in theology the phrase “human nature” refers to biblical and Christian teaching about the essential characteristics that make up every human being. Historically the church has consistently understood the Bible to teach that human nature is irreducibly spiritual and physical, a “psychosomatic unity” combining material (body, flesh) and immaterial
