the Jews were seeking to kill Him because He was “making Himself equal with God” (John 5:18). Jesus told His persecutors: “For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me” (John 5:46). When Jesus was on the road to Emmaus, Luke tells us that Jesus, “beginning at Moses and all the Prophets … expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself” (Luke 24:27). It is one thing, however, for Paul to claim that Jesus was the Messiah. Some might doubt his assertion.
