Zechariah, Book Of The 11th and longest book of the Minor Prophets. Chapters 1–8 record Zechariah’s visions encouraging the exiles to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. Chapters 9–14 are anonymous visions about a more distant future in which nations rise up against Judah and Jerusalem, the Jews are redeemed by the Messiah, and God establishes His kingdom on earth. The latter chapters of Zechariah provided the source of New Testament descriptions of Jesus as a humble and suffering Messiah.
