Triumphal Entry The term used to refer to Jesus’ climactic arrival in Jerusalem, which is recounted primarily in the New Testament Gospels (see Matt 21:1–11; Mark 11:1–11; Luke 19:28–40; John 12:12–19). In the narrative flow of the Gospels, the triumphal entry stands at the beginning of the Passion Narrative, which recounts the series of events during the last week of Jesus’ ministry leading up to His crucifixion and resurrection.
