Table of the Presence (שֻׁלְחַן הַפָּנִים, shulchan happanim). The table where the bread of the presence was kept in the tabernacle and temple (Exod 25:23–30; Num 4:7;1 Kgs 7:48). The table was made of acacia wood and overlaid with gold. The instructions for its construction are found in Exod 25:23–30. Using a standard cubit of 18 inches, the table was 36 inches long, 18 inches wide, and 27 inches high. The craftsman later carried out the construction of the table, following those specifications precisely (Exod 37:10–16). The table was to be placed in front of the curtain separating the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies, along the north side of the tabernacle (Exod 26:35). According to 1 Kgs 7:48–50, Solomon made the golden items for the temple, including the table.
