Red Sea (יָם סוּף, yam suph). Also known as the Reed Sea, or “Sea of Reeds.” Identified as the northwest arm of the Indian Ocean, including the Gulf of Aqaba and Gulf of Suez. A body of water which the Israelites crossed when they traveled out of Egypt into Sinai.
