Nahum the Prophet (נחום, nchwm). A prophet who proclaims the fall of Nineveh. His prophecies are recorded in the book of Nahum, one of the Minor Prophets of the Old Testament.
The prophetic superscription of the book of Nahum attributes the “oracle concerning Nineveh” to Nahum of Elkosh (Nah 1:1 NRSV). Though little is known about Nahum, he is closely identified with Obadiah as one with a message for a foreign nation.
