Lot, Son of Haran (לוֹט, lot; Λωτ, Lōt). The son of Abraham’s brother, Haran (Gen 11:27). Accompanied Abraham on his journey to the land of promise (Gen 12:4). The father of the nations of Ammon, Kingdom of and Moab on the eastern border of Israel (Gen 19:36–38). In spite of his seemingly flawed character pictured in the book of Genesis, the New Testament apostles declare him a “righteous man” (2 Pet 2:7–8).
