Gospel of the Twelve Apostles A noncanonical text that is not extant in any manuscripts. Mentioned by church father Origen when he contrasts the church’s four Gospels with the “many” used by the heretics (in Homily on Luke 1.2). The Gospel of the Twelve Apostles was never widely authoritative in the early church period.
Church father Jerome mentions a “Gospel according to the Apostles” that he seems to associate with a “Gospel according to the Hebrews” (which may be a reference to Gospel of the Hebrews) and a “Gospel according to Matthew” (Against the Pelagians 3.2). The relationship between these works is not clear.
