Gospel of the Ebionites One of three so-called “Jewish gospels”—along with the Gospel of the Hebrews and the Gospel of the Nazarenes—that date to the late first or early second century ad. These noncanonical gospels no longer exist in manuscript form, but they are mentioned by several early church fathers (including Irenaeus, Epiphanius, and Jerome). The Gospel of the Ebionites was never widely authoritative during the early church period and was deemed in retrospect to be heretical by several of the church fathers (e.g., Irenaeus, Adversus Haereses 5.1.3; compare 3.21.3).
