Clement, Second Letter Of (2 Clement). The earliest extant, nonbiblical Christian sermon (ca. ad 120–140), and the first early Christian writing to quote the New Testament as “scripture.” The Second Letter of Clement is included among the body of writings known as the Apostolic Fathers. Despite its traditional title, this document is neither a letter nor the work of Clement of Rome.
