Azgad (עַזְגָּד, azgad). Ancestor or head of a family of exiles returning to Judah (Ezra 2:12; 8:12; Neh 7:17; 10:15).
The descendants of Azgad, who numbered 1,222 according to Ezra 2:12 (2,322 according to Neh 7:17), were among those who returned from Babylon with Zerubbabel. Jehohanan led another 110 descendants of Azgad who returned with Ezra (Ezra 8:12). The head of the family of Azgad signed the covenant with Nehemiah along with the other heads of families (Neh 10:15).
