Apocalypse of Peter Also known as the Revelation of Peter. A pseudepigraphical apocalyptic treatise. Includes a description of paradise and a vivid tour of hell. This article describes the Apocalypse of Peter, which may have been written before the mid-second century ad and is preserved in Ethiopic (and a Greek fragment). This work should not be confused with two other works by the same name: an Arabic text that presents itself as teaching from the apostle Peter to his disciple Clement of Rome, and a text found at Nag Hammadi that is likely gnostic in origin.
For information on other works known as the Apocalypse of Peter, see these articles: Apocalypse of Peter, Arabic; Apocalypse of Peter, Gnostic.
