Psalms and Prophets
The Psalms and Prophets emphasize Moses’ role as a mediator between God and his people. In Psalms:
• Psa 77:20—God leads the people by the hand of Moses.
• Psa 103:7—God makes his ways known to Moses.
• Pss 99:6; 105:26; 106:16—God set Moses and Aaron over Israel and Egypt.
• Psa 106:23—After the golden calf episode, Moses is said to have “stood in the breach” (ESV) between God and Israel, thereby preventing their destruction (see also Exod 32).
• Psa 106:32—The frustration Moses experiences in the wilderness is acknowledged.
• Psalm 90 is attributed to Moses.
The prophetic books rarely mention Moses:
• Isa 63:11–12—Isaiah reminisces about “the days of old, of Moses and his people” (ESV) while wondering where God “who caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses” (ESV) has been.
• Jer 15:1—God tells Jeremiah that even if Moses and Samuel intercede on behalf of Israel, He will not yield.
• Mal 4:4—God reminds the people to remember “the law of my servant Moses.”
• Mic 6:4—God reminds the people that He sent Moses to deliver them from Egypt.
