Redditt
Redditt describes the Minor Prophets as “twelve collections combined by a scribal editor into one volume” (Redditt, Introduction, 195). He places Jonah as the latest of the 12 collections and argues that it was inserted to bring the number to 12 (Redditt, Introduction, 195–200). He argues that the addition of Zech 9–14 was attached to Zech 1–8 without a prophetic name, since there were 12 in the larger collection already. Redditt goes so far as to find a synchronic plot within the combined Book of the Twelve:
• warnings of impending divorce from Israel (Hosea, Joel, Amos);
• punishment for Judah and others (Obadiah, Jonah, Micah);
• punishment to restoration (Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah);
• restoration, renewal, and God’s eternal love (Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi).
