Dalmatia (Δαλματία, Dalmatia). A mountainous region on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea.

In the first century, Dalmatia was part of the Roman province of Illyricum. During Paul’s second imprisonment in Rome, Titus visited Dalmatia (2 Tim 4:10). Paul had earlier preached in the area (Rom 15:19). Today, this region is part of Croatia, although modern Dalmatia is smaller than the ancient region.
