INTRODUCTION The laws of Deuteronomy have deservedly commanded the particular attention of many students of the book.1 This is no doubt due to the feet that a study of them leads into diverse and important areas of OT research, such as the nature of OT law, the character of Israel’s cult, and critical issues concerning Deuteronomy itself.
