HONORING PARENTS The phrase, “Honor your father and your mother,” concerns honor that is due and not honor that is given out of the kindness of one’s heart. It is in view of who and what they are and their worth, which is their due. It is linked to reverence for the Heavenly Father. If there is no reverence for earthly parents, irrespective as to what they may be, there will be little reverence for our Heavenly Parent. Ideally, parents are to be as God until the child reaches the age of accountability.
