TO PREACH GOOD TIDINGS UNTO THE MEEK The word “meek” here actually refers to one who is “poor in spirit.” This speaks of a broken and contrite spirit which has been prepared to receive the Message. That which He was to preach was “good tidings,” signifying that man did not have to die lost, but could be saved; therefore, the Gospel is called “Good News.” As well, God has chosen the method of “preaching” to touch the hearts of men and thereby to bring them to Salvation.
