It’s easy enough to say that we know someone. Often, though, when we say we “know” someone, we mean that we have met that person or know about that person, but we do not really know that person in depth. A person’s acquaintance does not know that person as well as a close friend knows him; a close friend does not know a person as well as that person’s spouse and children know him; a person’s close family members do not know that person as well
