Finally, Paul has a word for all of those who are alive on the earth when the Rapture takes place: “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (4:17). Paul always puts himself in this class (note the word we). Not until much later did he learn that he was going to die (2 Tim. 4:6–8). He lived in eager expectation of being caught up at any moment.
